Currency in the Baltics

I understand that using ATMs is ideal and we plan to get large amounts of Euros out whenever we need to. We'll also use our credit card whenever possible.

But, what about those Scandinavian countries and others that all have their own different currencies and you just want to buy a small souvenir in a little shop that doesn't take credit cards? We'll only be in each port for one day, so I wasn't sure if we should still go to an ATM each morning in each different country to get a bit of their specific money? Or do they ever accept Euros or US dollars? I'm specifically referring to Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Estonia, Russia and Croatia. Any advice would be greatly appreciated - thank you!

We were in the Baltic last summer, all the countries you mention plus Finland, and all the small vendors took U.S. dollars and Euros. Only one place, a cafe in Stockholm, would not accept either or even credit cards; it was a good thing we asked first.

You make a good point. When travelling in Europe do not assume anything. Always ask the hostess or waiter at a restaurant what form of payment that they accept BEFORE you order anything.
