Fiumicino to Civitavecchia

Hi I booked a last minute cruise out of Chvitavecchia leaving the 5th of October for four of us. We arrive in Rome on that day at 8:00am and would like to see a few sights. Any suggestions on where to start. Is it possible to book a short tour and still get to the port on time? We haven't booked any transfers yet

Don,t know what cruise line you are on, but do know that Carnival has some cutrate tours of Rome before being transferred to the ship. If not Carnival, perhaps your cruise can offer the same.

thanks we're traveling on Royal Carribbean and I didn't see anything for touring Rome before the cruise only after but I appreciate your input

We are on the same cruise as you. If you can change plans to come into FCO a day early, do so! Other than that, just a few random thoughts. You arrive at 8am, by the time you colect bags, clear customs, and catch the leonardo Expresss to Termini it will be 09:30. Drop bags at the "left luggage" in termini, buy tickets for Civitavecchia, and then walk across the street and catch a hop on-hop off bus. You want to be back to Termini by 13:45 at the latest. You need to be at the ship by 15:00.

Of course you could always hire a cab and do it that way for about 500-600 euros for the 4 of you.

what is the best way to get from Rome to the cruise port? How much should it cost for four adults with 4 large bags and 4 small bags to get to the port?

The mosy economical way (assuming not mobility problems) is by train. Leonardo Express to Roma Termini will be Euro 38 for 4. Train to Civitavecchia from Termini will be Euro 18 to Euro 44 for 4 (depending upon train and class.)
Ships transfer has to be about $320 for 4 or 3 times the train. Taxi is going to cost at least twice the train.

Rome was not built in 1 day. I would suggest to catch a taxi and drive direct to Civitavecchia for 140 euros. You don't have time to enjoy the city and you will be too tired from the flight to be able to appreciate what you are seeing.
