We will be staying at a hotel in Quarto D'Altino prior to our cruise. We were thinking of taking the train to Santa Lucia and walking or taking a vaporetto across to Piazzale Roma? Is this easy to do for 3 elderly people with luggage and how far is the walk? Our other option is taking a land taxi from our hotel to the cruise terminal. It would be nice if they can take us directly to the cruise terminal. Does anyone know approximately how much would it cost to go from Quarto D'Altino to Stazione Marittima?
Thanks.

It is a very difficult walk from the train station to Plazza Roma. You must cross a large bridge over the Grande Canal and two smaller bridges. The vaporreti can be crowded and might be difficult to get on and off with luggage. Your best bet would be to take a cab from your hotel directly to the cruise ship. Your hotel should know how much it will cost. If your hotel is a good distance away you can always take the train to the station before Santa Lucia and take a cab to the ship from there.

Three bridges!! We definitely don't want to do that walk from the train station! I had no idea it would be so complicated. Looks like taking a cab is our best option. Thanks E-Cruiser!

You better take the train to MESTRE. There you can catch a taxi for Stazione Marittima. So you can save money.
