Will be in Warnemunde on a Sunday. Are shops open, or do I need to plan on Rostock? I don't think I'm interested in Berlin for such a quick tour. Thanks!
while there is a German law called "Ladenschlussgesetz", which prohibits shops from opening on Sundays, exceptions are made for holiday regions, so at least a limited number of shops should be open.
Warnemunde is well worth your time. If it is a warm day, it has an excellent beach too. If I visited again and did not do Berlin, I would spend the day in Warnemunde rather than visit Rostock. Other than some shopping and a cathedral, there isn't much going on in Rostock (especially on a Sunday)
Toms advice is correct. Stay at the beautiful town of Warenemuende, have a lot of fun on the beach. The trip to Berlin is hard. For this town you need more than a few hours for the first visite.
Have a nice day in northern Germany
