Meeting friends in Tallinn question

We have friends who live in Tallinn and we are planning to spend our day in port with them. Just wondering if anyone knows the best way to meet up with them. "Meet at the port" seems way too vague - are people not on the cruise ship allowed to come to the port? Should they just look for our ship there? (I'm sure there are lots of them!) Or is there a good meeting point that we would both be able to find more easily? Thanks for any advice!!

I suspect your friends who live in Tallinn would know the best place to meet, and whether they're allowed into the port area. We once met friends in Stockholm, who were waiting for us as we walked down the gangway from the ship. But this was pre-Sept. 11, and I don't know the regulations at various ports now.

Could your friends find out if they're allowed to meet the ship? Otherwise, perhaps they could suggest a meeting place right outside the port area where you could meet.

Hello twobytwo;

I was in Tallinn last summer; the port is a large area but the cruise ships use one pier, which is walking distance from town. The port area is not closed off; you can drive right up to the pier. Your friends can meet you right at the foot of the pier.
