Hi,

do you have an idea where Oberammergau is situated in Germany ? Even if you would take a river cruise on the Donau and you would be in Passau that's a 3 hours drive.

And if you would be in Hamburg it would take at least 8 hours.

What kind of cruise where you thinking about ?

Bye,
Heike

I was thinking River cruise I did find out the Viking does one but you start in Munich and go to the play first. Your land tour is first and than you board the River boat, sounds really nice. Princess Cruise line does one but after the land tour you go off to the Baltics and we did that a few years ago. So I am thinking of the River Cruise.

Most river cruises alternate their itineraries. IE: Vienna to Nuremburg one week, next Nuremburg to Vienna. Avlalon River Cruises is a division of Globus and Cosmos. For the 2010 Oberammergau Passion Play they will have a select few river cruises where you can add on the Passion Play package. I believe the one that would work best is the Rhine River Amsterdam to Basel (Zurich). If you are seriously looking at doing this you should book now. Passion Play packages book up fast.

janfred - The Star Princess has two 18 day itineraries scheduled for August 2010 which include a lengthy land tour option with travel to and tickets for the Oberammergau Passion Play! My lottery tickets have not hit yet - so it looks like I'll have to wait it out.

I believe it is necessary to make arrangements directly thru Princess for the combined sea/land package as it requires disembarking for 8-10 days for the land package. In any case your TA will probably be the best way to make the arrangements!!
