Has anyone taken RCL's Monte Carlo Grand Casino Tour?

The itinerary states: "Guests must be able to walk approximately 1 mile uphill on cobblestone streets with approx. 75-80 steps...extensive uphill walk to reach the Grand Casino Square in Monte Carlo."

With that said, since "tennis shoes [I imagine sneakers fall under this category] are not permitted," I'm wondering whether sandals are appropriate for such a climb, or whether I should wear my sneakers and carry a pair of "permittable" shoes for entrance into the Casino.

Really don't want to lug extras around if I don't have to, but not looking forward to callouses and bunions at the beginning of my cruise either.

Hi Cruisingsoon,

We did not take any tour in Monte Carlo. We took took the bus - very very convenient there and very very clean. Cost us $1 Euro each way to the casino. Did not have to walk up anything. The casino to enter it - costs $10 euros and you pay to go deeper into each room. For us - not worth the effort. Got pictures from outside. Cobblestone can be nasty on your feet - stay away from sandals - good walking shoes best. Princess was charging 40 euros for tour of casino and quick little drive around similar to what you get on a $1 euro bus.

Thank you, Pink845, for your response. I'll heed your advice and not wear sandals. We did, however, book an excursion to Nice, Eze and Monaco; so, upon our return, I will comment on whether or not it was worth the cost of the excursion.

We did the Nice, Eze and Monaco tour when we sailed Navigator. It was worth the cost, very enjoyable and the Guide gave a great narration along the way.
