I was looking at the review on using the train to go to Rome. I'm a bit confused. When I get off the ship, do I need to take a taxi to the train station or is it within walking distance from where the ship lets you off? How far of a walk is it? Thanks!!!

It is within easy walking distance. Read this review and it will give you all the details.

Tom, I found your port review about Rome by Train so very helpful. We have arranged for a private tour guide to meet us at Termini station and he recommended we purchase our tickets/reserve our seats now. Do you know if the BIRG tickets can be purchased online or do you have to buy them on site? Also, do you know if train delays are common? I'm nervous about missing the ship at day's end.

I am not sure about the BIRG tickets, but you can always purchase tickets on thes spot, which is the way I like to do it in case you want to change your plans due to weather, opportunity or whatever.

Always leave plenty of time on your treturn train for delays or other situations. While delays are not common, they can happen and if you are scheduled so tightly that a delay would cause you to miss the ship, take an earlier trin.

Just my opinion.

Tom, when they talk about delays does this mean 20-60 minutes or hours?
