What is more interesting : Monaco or Cannes ? (with 2 kids 9 and 12 years old)

Tough question because it really does depend the kids. In Monte Carlo you can take them up to the Palace and there is also an excellent Oceanographic Museum (a personal hobby of the Prince). Cannes does not offer much for kids but it does have a pretty nice sandy beach which is a rarity on the mainland of Europe. If you decide to go off on your own (the way we always travel) you can simply change your itinerary as the day progresses depending on how things go. This is the way we often travel in Europe...as opposed to most Americans who insist on structured tours with specific schedules. This can be a real family project where the kids can do their own research on the internet and develop their own ideas.

Hey there. Our kids enjoyed the Oceanography Museum and enjoyed walking around the palace grounds in Monaco. Depending on your arrival time, there is a 10 minute changing of the guard at the palace around noon. They also liked seeing all of the 'fancy' cars at the Casino. With children, we did not enjoy Cannes as much. I would recommend Nice over Cannes. If your kids like to bike or roller blade, the promenade in Nice is wonderful as is a stroll through old town or a hike up the Chateau to see the views over the city and coast line. Also, there is tubing or water skiing (which we plan to do this summer) and a big trampoline jumping area. Got to love jumping with a view. When all else fails, our kids can sit on the rocks and try to hit random sticks in the water for hours (while the parents enjoy a glass of wine and some cheese). Good luck with your trip.
