Is is safe to say you could take the hydrofoil to Sorento in the morning when the seas would be calmer and take the train back to Naples stoppping at Pompeii? We are in port from 7-7 so have a little more time than some of the other cruisers.

Hi, scassel,

and you will get the timetable of the Circumvesuviana. That ist the train from Naples to Sorrento and viceversa. For Pompeji you have to leave the train at Pompeji Scavi. The station is just at the entrance of Pompeji.
You will need about three to four hours for P.
Now I am looking for the timetable for the hydrofoils.

Hi scassel,
I found the timetable!

The ferry leaves Napoli Beverello (that is just near the cruise terminal) at 8:45h and will arrive in Sorrento at about 9:45h (Euro 4,--)

Another link:

and you can ask for your personal timetable.

All clear???

Obviously I need something to hold 7?
I have read the port reviews but would be quite interested in any other links you could suggest.
Thanks again,
Hi Norma,

We visited Messina and Taormina in October. We booked a private tour guide that took us to where they filmed the Godfather, and also to Taormina. I loved Taormina. It is beautiful there. Lots of things to see - Greek Theatre w/ spectacular views, lots of boutique shops and wonderful places to eat.

I did notice that when we got off the ship there were taxis and vans there but don't know if they were picking up passengers who had booked tours.

Are you planning to do your own driving or having someone drive you? I can give you the name of the tour company we used. The roads leading to these places are very twisty, windy and mountainous. The scenery is beautiful though.

Hi, Just saw your post. I'll be in Messina at the end of this month and want to go to Taormina. Pls can u let me have contact e-m for the tour company you used. Don't want to pay ship tour prices. Many thanks. Jan
