We are taking a port intensive European cruise in June/July and looking for a couple of charming ports to not tour, but in which to relax, hang out, eat, drink and soak up. Cadiz appears to fit the bill. Would La Rochelle work too? Is it within walking distance from the ship? Is it charming?
You wouldn't be taking the HAL cruise on board the Prinsendam would you? If so, I'll be reading your responses to find out more about the ports as well.
We sailed with Prinsendam to La Rochelle last September. This charming town is within walking distance from the ship and there are nice resturants and shops near the port.
We have booked the 6/26 Prinsendam cruise. I asked several questions regarding shore excursions on various cruise message boards, all under the name "Lira" (if you wish to search for this correspondence). The responses have been varied and informative, and have really helped us plan this trip. These boards are really awesome.
