POMPEII/SORRENTO/CAPRI ???

I've read the posts on this subject but still find it a bit confusing.

I would like to hear from someone who has actually done all 3 in a day on their own.

Was it really rushed?

What transportation mode did you use?

Is Capri a "must do"?

welcome to our cruise chat forum. Hope you will find here all the answers to your questions.
Pompeji is a MUST, and Ercolano (Herculaneum) too. For the rest of the day you might climb up to the Vesuv for an overwhelming view of Napoli.
Capri is overcrowded with tourist.
OK, Sorrento is lovely. You can go there by train too (Circumvesuviana from Naples first to Sorrento, then back to Pompeji Scavi, thereafter with the train to Ercolano and than back to the cruise port.

I've done all three in a day on a ship-sponsored excursion and it was wonderful; nice lunch in Sorrento; plenty of time to explore Pompeii; lovely walk around Capri; and all at a very leisurely pace.
I guess some just like the challange of doing it themselves in the time allotted.
To me, trying to coordinate ferries with trains with taxis just wouldn't be much fun; certainly nothing I would want to attempt on my first trip to a foreign country in a limited and very rigid time frame.
