Our cruise in October docks in Venice at 7am and our flight is out of Marco Polo airport at 10am. Will we have enough time to disembark and make it to the airport? We carry off our luggage. What's the best way to get to the airport? We're booking our flights ourselves since we're flying into Paris for a few days too.

Hi suec,

look here to see a map of Venice and the Aeroporto Marco Polo.. It is better to take the bus (about 30 minutes)from Piazzale Roma (take a shuttle from the ship to Piazzale Roma). Yo can also take a taxi.

More about the bus here

A taxi costa about 60 Euros from Piazzale Roma to Airport Airport (about 20 minutes)

Sue, the ship docks at 7am but it's going to be later before even the first person can leave the ship. After the ship docks, it has to go through whatever Italian Customs procedures all arriving ships go through. If all goes smoothly and quickly, they could start letting folks off the ship between 7:30-8am. Unless you roll all your luggage off the ship yourselves, you have to wait in line to disembark, then go claim your luggage, before leaving the ship terminal. You could be one of many people waiting to get off the ship, and be in a long line.

Considering the airlines now recommend that you arrive at the airport between 2 and 3 hours prior to an international flight, I don't think 10am is a good idea for your departing flight.

As an example, Royal Caribbean recommends booking flights no earlier than 11:30am when departing one of their ships in Venice.

Thanks for the info. After looking at the flights again we found one that leaves Venice at 12:20pm which is better. It's more expensive but less stressful for us.
It sounds like the bus or shuttle is the way to get to the airport. A taxi would be last resort I think.
