Florence & Pisa On Our Own

We dock in Livorno on a Friday. The ship is in port from 7:00am to 7:00pm. I have read Tom's port reviews, but still do not know if we will have enough time to take the train to Pisa to see the Tower and then on to Florence to see the Uffizi Gallery and then back to the port. Is it better to go to Florence first and then stop at Pisa on the way back.

I would go first to Florence, then head to Pisa.
before you leave, take a look to the train table and keep in mind trains sometimes run a bit late in Italy.....

I have to agree. Also, Pisa is very close to Livorno. You could actually take the train to Florence, take an early return and then grab a taxi to Pisa. Pisa will only entertain you for 20 to 30 minutes and then you will want to head back to the port.

Either way, you can easily acomplish both in a day
