Nancy, Jan and myself (all from Cruise-Chat.com) are going to be cruswing the Baltic on celebrity's Century for the next 12 days and I thought that if anyone had any questions about the ship or ports that we could try to answer them while on board.

Our ports include Stockholm, Sweden; Helsinki, Fineland, Copenhagen, Demark, Oslo, Norwway; Taling, Estonia and St. Petersburg, Russia. The cruise leaves and returns to Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Let us know what you want to hear about!

Bon Voyage.

Tom

Century is/was my favorite Celebrity ship. I say "was" because of the major overhaul which changed things. I'll have to cruise on her again to get a new opinion. I am glad to see my favorite cabins (the nine balcony rooms on the aft end of the Penthouse Deck) still exist - albeit with the new name of Century Suites.

I'm interested in the new ice martini bar I've read about, and the Murano restaurant.

Hi tom, i was just reading a thread started by Carolyn aboard Century on the Baltics last month under cruise critics.com. She mentioned something about the lack of friendliness among the staff ie staff looking away like trying to avoid saying hello, also she mentioned about her horrible dining experienceon the first formal night, check it out, everybody is responding to this thread coz a lotof cc's are anticipating the newly refurb century. My concern, i hope this is only an isolated incident and not representative of the entire crew coz celebrity is really known for their topnotch costumer service. I booked on June 2007 Baltic sailing regardless. Looking forward for yours and Nancy's reviews. Have a safe trip and happy sailing... Angel

Hi Tom. We'll be cruising on Century from Amsterdam next summer. I'm most curious about the logistics of transfering to the ship and transfering to the airport after the cruise -- best times, etc. (We're flying in two days prior to the cruise and plan to leave the same day the ship returns.)

As far as the ship, I look forward to your comments on the Murano restaurant. Also, if anyone is staying in the new balcony cabins on Deck 9, I'm curious to hear any thoughts about the transformation.

Bon voyage!

Hi Angelcruiser,
Well, I too read the thread on cc before leaving for this cruise and was concerned. BUT, I have not seen any of the issues onboard this trip. The crew has been exceptionally pleasant, very attentive and for the most part - seem very happy and smile a lot. I have been enjoying the same quality service, food and experience that I have come to expect on Celebrity. Actually dined at the Captain's Table last night on the first formal night - so needless to say - my experience was in no way similar to Carolyn's.

Dave, other than taking out the t-pool (one of my absolute favorite things on these ships) The ship itself is spectacular. It looks and feels like a brand new ship. I am very impressed with what they have done. I would not hesitate to sail her again - love the new bedding!

Lisa, we plan to dine in Muranos this Sunday - so will give you a full report.

Great cruise so far and looking for more of the same -
Nancy

Ooops! Sorry for any confusion - the above message really is a response from NancyN (as is this one) - but am using Tom's computer and he is automatically logged into C-C.

hi tom and nancy, thanks for your response, i'm so looking forward for your full review and it made me really happy that its probably an islotaed incident only w carolyn's experience, i feel so sorry for her. After all, each cc and individual cruise is different and it just depends on how you make the most out of it. Have fun w the rest of your cruise, you guys are the best... Angel

Thank you, Nancy. Enjoy your dinner on Sunday.

Bummer about the T-pool. I hadn't realized it had been removed. I enjoyed it on Infinity..

Dave, the Ice Martini Bar is a huge improvement over the old Sports Bar. They have removed the computers from the bar and completely redone it. It is already one of my favorites on the ship and we selected it as our meeting place each evening. They play “Chill” music quietly enough to enjoy conversation and the service is excellent. It is very popular even though the cruise has just started.

Overall, the only negative (well personal negative) is that the T-Pool is gone. I so enjoyed it and the adjoining steam room. The ship is more like an entirely new ship than a makeover. I like it much better.

Tom
