we have not booked any excursions at Messina. We will visiting "just" Messina. I have found some Links (go to Turismo) or better this Link. If you klick on Itinerario breve or Itinerario completo you will see the places to visit at Messina.

Was just going to suggest you go to Taormina, but see you already booked a tour. My only suggestion would be that you really do not need a tour in that town, but rather the transportation from Messina (its about an hour trip). Taormina is easy to tour on your own as it only has two real streets (one full of shops and the other leads to the Roman/Greek Amphitheater. I always warn anyone going to Taormina that all the decent shops/boutiques close about 1:30 or 2 for their 3 -4 hour siesta. So, if you get there in the late morning do your shopping (and browsing) right away and than you can visit the Amphitheater later and enjoy a nice lunch in one of the cafes.

What would you suggest is the best means of transportation to Taormina from Messina. Our cruise ship ports for only 6 hours from 12-6pm so our time is very limited. I understand the train drops you off a distance away and a bus/taxi is required from there.....is this correct? If so, what do you think a taxi ride directly from Messina would cost?
