Is there much to see in this port within walking distance or a bus ride? We don't really want to go on any of the shore excurions to Gdansk etc. Any ideas??
I spent three weeks in Gdynia a few years back, and I can tell you it's the ugliest place I've ever seen. Nothing of interest there unless you're into communist architecture
Gdansk on the other hand is supposed to be a beautiful city, so if you don't want to go to the shore excursions my advice to you is to stay onboard and have a good nap
Indead, Gdynia is not worth to leave the ship. BUT: Gdansk is worth to leve the ship. If you want to go to Gdansk by a private excursion, please give me a PM, so I can give you a mail-adress of an english-speaking young lady.
We did it last year, and we would do it any time again.
Regards
Uwe
We opted for the ship's excursion to bus into Gdansk and be dropped off to wander on our own. A tour guide was provided for the bus ride and he was fabulous. It was one of the highlights of our trip. We were dropped off at the old part of the city and it was interesting to wander through. We also stopped at the worker's memorial for a photo-op.
