Monaco train station to attractions

I am going to Villefranche. I know I can take a train to Monaco. My question is how far is it to the casino area? I have been there before and thought it was very beautiful around there, but can't recall how far from the train it is.

Also, what other attractions are near there and how would you get to them from the Monaco train station?

We recently returned from our cruise which included Villefranche. The train will get you to Monaco (hope it isn't an hour late like our's was). When we got to Monaco we couldn't see a taxi anywhere so we walked all over which I feel wasted alot of time. We finally caught the little sightseeing train which went past the casino. I don't think it was too far from the train station but certainly quite a walk.
