My husband and I will be arriving into Naples on The Voyager of The Seas, Wednesday, May 28th.
We would like to visit Sorrento, Positano and the Amalfi Coast.
I've heard that auto traffic will be congested.
Should we try the Circumvesuviana train or still hire a driver?
It's just the 2 of us and wouldn't mind joining a group on a tour.
The Circumvesuviania train will only get you as far as Sorrento. To explore the Amalfi Coast you will either need a car or you can fight the crowds and use the local SITA bus from Sorrento to Amalfi (it stops at Positano and everywhere else). Yes, traffic will be congested, particularly around Sorrento and on the Amalfi Drive in the area of Positano. Your best bet would be to hire a car/driver (do this on-line) although we prefer to rent a car and go on our own (I do not recommend this for those not used to driving in Italy).
