Film festival in Canne

We will be in nice during the canne film festival, would it be woth a trip? What should we expect, we are only in port for the day.

Hi new cruzer, welcome to cruise-chat!

Just me, but you couldn't pay me enough to go hang out with the celebs and the paparazzi strutting on their red carpet. I know some can't get enough if it. It sells a lot of tabloids and gets plenty of air time on the tube. It's just not my thing.

Look at the excursions available and see if there is something of interest. Hope you have a "nice" time on you cruise.

Hi new cruzer. We were in Cannes during the film festival in 1996 (not on a cruise). We weren't hanging around the red carpets and didn't buy tickets for the screenings. We aren't 'star struck' types. We really enjoyed walking around the city...actually roller bladed along the strand by the sea. (if you don't roller blade, grab a bike or just walk). It was great! There were huge yachts everywhere and a very festive atmosphere. We've been back to Cannes several times and didn't enjoy it nearly as much. Have a great time!

One more thing...if you are into trip memorabilia, pick up the Cannes Film Festival poster for the year. They can't be purchased outside of the film festival and are pretty cool...and cheap! I just posed the Nice or Cannes question to my husband...he says Cannes- you can do Nice anytime. We are taking our fourth trip to Nice this summer so we definitely enjoy it...still would tell you Cannes during the festival.
