Lesstew,, I guess the answer to your question is yes and no (laugh). I believe all the trains to Florence do stop at Pisa...but there are also some trains that go to Pisa and do not go to Florence. You also need to keep in mind that a stop in Pisa will probably take at least 90 min...and that assumes you don't try to get a reservation to climb the tower. Its a good 20 minute walk from the station to the tower although a taxi will save you lots of time. I think most tend to stop off at Pisa on the way to Florence and than plan on getting to Florence in time for lunch. But, if you have never been to Florence you will find that every minute will be precious. Its a relatively large city with so much to see. In fact, i seem to recall that one of the major travel magazines (might have been Conde Nast) called Florence the number 1 tourist city in the world.

I would recommend that you stop at Pisa on the return from Florence. Pisa is relatively close to the port and the best way to do it would be to engage a taxi to take you to the tower and then back to the ship. This way, you can maximize your time in Pisa and be returned to the ship without worrying about catching another train and then getting back to the port.

Hank is right about Florence. It is an awesome experience.

Have a great day in Florence!

I can recommend a woman guide in Kusadasi that will take you to Ephesus, her name is Emek Evyn, emekevin@hotmail.com, she comes highly recommended by the folks at the Luxury Cruise Talk board. She is quick on email and will give you all the details and allow you to select from different vans and transportation. She'll meet you at the port bright and early and be at your disposal for a customized tour.

We are arriving in Livorno in November on the Millie. Want to go to Lucca for the day. Question is to you who have been to this port before. What time were you able to get off the ship? Would we be able to make a 9-9:30 train? Thanks (I see it take about an hour on the train.)
