Train Tickets in Italia

I wonder if someone would have an answer to this question.

If I purchase train tickets from Trenitalia over the Internet with a specific time and miss that train at that time, could I use the same tickets to get on the next available train using these tickets (same destination)?

If you purchase tickets on IC or IC+ the tickets are good until 24:00 on the specified date. If you reserve seats (second ticket) they are good only from specified date/time. You acn apply for a refund (by mail) and they only issue credits for future travel.

Have not seen a clear explanation on Eurostar.

I don't know IC or IC+. Is this the same as Trenitalia? If so, are you saying the tickets would be valid for 24 hours regardless of the time on the ticket?

IC and IC+ are the middle class trains on Trenitalia that allow you to make seat reservations. Reservations for a seat are optional and do cost you a second ticket (about 3 Euro.) The Eurostar class has mandatory reservations. The local trains do not have seat reservations. Tickets are good until midnight (24:00hrs) on the date that they are purchased for.
