Naples - recommendation for Excursion on Amalfi Coast with private driver

Greetings,

My dad and I are going to do a Greek Islands cruise on the Grand Princess in October/November 2008. One of the stops is in Naples, and we would like to find a guide to drive us up the Amalfi Coast, rather than take an excursion set up by the cruise line. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good guide in Naples/Capri? Thanks.

We used Romeinlimo (www.romeinlimo.com) in October in both Rome and Naples and would highly recommend them. We had Carlo in Naples and Duman in Rome.

when we use to visit my relatives on the amalfi coast we have always been used a private company car www.amalficar.it, and I know they provide a good service for cruisers too, very handsome and hones, drivers speak all english.

We were in Sorrento (really nice shops and beautiful wood inlay), Pompei, Paestum,the Mt. Vesuvius, Herculaneum, Naples (it's really loud and crowded) and the the famous and amazing amalficoast (nice Ceramics). We rented an English speaking driver (born and raised in Sorrento: Giuseppi) to have the most comfort. He guided us also and told us a bit of everything. The same driver picked us up in Naples from the airport. He got a big van with air conditioning: it was so hot!!! And seats for the kids, the streets are very small. So we felt quiet safe and comfortable. I lost the telephone number but you can find him on the

In Capri you can't have a private driver. is a little island and from march to october the traffic is forbidden. You can just catch the little train (funicolare) from port to the centre and walk aroound. For Amalfi Coast is okay, but you have to looking for a local driver who know the road very well, in fact is very very narrow. The last year, when i stopped in Naples i had a trip from the port to Positano and Amalfi with SyrenLimo http://www.syrenbus.com/syrenlimo/. They was very friendly and also show me the best place, make us a of picture and also suggest us a good restauran. I think they speak english better than me ( it's not so difficult), so i speak in spanish with us...

If you go to Capri, what I like to do is skip the long line for the funicular and grab a taxi. If you want, the taxi can take you up to Anacapri where you can explore the little shops and ride the chairlift to the top of the island.

Then, when you are finished there, a taxi can drop you off in Capri Town for further exploration and you've seen the island and missed standing in line.
