Venice cruise ship terminal

hello,

We will be on the 10/29 Splendour of the Seas sailing from Venice. Our train is arriving at the Santa Lucia train station in Venice. RCL tells me that they do not provide a shuttle to the ship from Piazza Roma. Any suggestions on the alternatives to go from Santa Lucia train station to the Marittima terminal? I understand that water taxis are very expensive, so I want to explore all of the alternatives.

You should be able to take a (land) taxi to the cruise terminal and this would be the most reasoinable way to make the transfer.

You see, the cruise terminal it is not far from S. Lucia railway station and piazzale Roma.

From S.Lucia Railway station the terminals can be reached by:
- Public water buses (vaporetti) to P.le Roma (1 stop) where you will find the terminal's bus shuttle or you can take a taxi cab (see further instructions 'from P.le Roma')
- Water taxi directly to the cruise terminal

FROM PIAZZALE ROMA
Piazzale Roma is the only part of the city of Venice that can be reached by car. Here information point for public bus and vaporetti, as well as taxi station and guarded parking areas are available. The cruise and ferry terminals can be reached by:
- Taxi cab (about 2 minutes trip)
- Bus n. 6/ stopping just outside the entrance to the passenger port. Shuttle bus from Piazzale Roma to the ferry terminal: every day in presence of ship. For the timetable please contact the agencies.

Thank you for answering my question re the Piazza Roma in Venice. We will be in Verona the night of 10/28 and travel to Venice the morning of 10/29. Normally I like to stay in the port city but it is about an hour and a half from Verona to Venice and Verona is much less expensive than Venice. Many trains serve Verona and Venice, but I am researching bus transit that will take us directly from Verona to Venice'Piazza Roma. This will eliminate the intermediate step of on and off a vaporetto. Any comments on this?

Fred,
I would prefer to take the train from Verona to Mestre (the train station before Venice S. Lucia. It is faster thanthe bus. From Mestre you can take a taxi cab to the cruise terminal. You have to spend about 35 Euro.
