we are booked on a Norwegian Cruise Line cruise to the Baltic
departing Dover 10th May 2003, which stops in St Petersberg for two days.
We want to travel independently in St Petersburg, coming and going from the ship as often as we like. I understand that we need russian visas for this, but I need to know what type of visa to get.
The travel agency have spoken to the Russian consulate and are saying we need a "double entry" tourist visa for the two days of the stopover. A Visa processing company I have spoken to insist these are very rare, and they say that a normal "single entry" visa will cover all trips ashore.
I need to find out what we really need so that I can get on with applying for the visa.
I would love to hear from anyone who has obtained and used a visa for independent travel in St Petersberg from a cruise ship.
