Need help on travel from the ship to Florence, Pisa, and back to the ship. I know we need a taxi, which I hear is hard, to Livorno Centrale tp Firenze SMN. And from SMN to Pisa Centrale then change trains to Pisa Rossore. Is 9.50 euros one way sound correct? Will I have to buy different tickets for Pisa? Can anyone give me a cost of the whole round trip ticket price and the taxi ride? Do I need to buy the tickets in advance? What web site do I go to?

We are traveling with small children I what to get all of my ducks in a row before leaving Aug. 4th.

Why do you need to change trains at Pisa Rossore?
You can go through Pisa to Florence without changing trains.

These are commuter lines and you probably won't be able to buy your tickets on line ahead of time, but you really don't need to.

Yes, the taxi's are hard to get to take you to the station in Livorno. If you get one willing, be prepared to pay 20 eruo per taxi. (we got eight people in ours so it was only 5 euro for each couple) But, the port runs a free shuttle form the ship to the Central market area. You can catch the #1 bus to the train station from there and the 1R route back(ask the bus driver if they don't tell you how). The taxi is quicker and more direct but you pay a price for that.

Tell the ticket office that you want to go to Florence but want to be able to stop in Pisa.

I read the train stops at Pisa Centrale and I would need to get a taxi to the Leaning Tower. We could change trains at Pisa Centrale to Pisa San Rossore (4 min. ride) then a 5 min. walk to the tower. Not sure if this info is right. Anyway, do I need only one round trip ticket to go from Livorno, Florence, Pisa, and back to the ship, if we do not change trains in Pisa?

Or take a bus from Pisa Centrale. Waiting for a connecting train to Pisa SR could be a big waste of time. You'll wait about as long as it take to walk it. You need two tickets. Livorno-Firenze, Firenze-Livorno. They all go through Pisa. Ask for round trip and you'll get two tickets. No RT savings! Italian trains are basically point-to-point with a very few exceptions.
