I presume given a choice between Florence, Italy or Pisa, the hands down decision is Florence. Correct or incorrect?

I'd also consider hiring a car and guide to get the most out of this experience. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Appreciate any comments.

Stopped at Livorno on a cruise in May, and I would highly suggest you hire a cab for the day. We were able to see both Florence and Pisa. Florence is most definitely the most beautiful city in Italy and not to be missed, but you can do both. Check out Tom Ogg's mega-review on the Silver Whisper (www.cruisereviews.com) for some added tips.
