My daughter and I are traveling on Princess Ruby in June. We are going to be in Italy and taking a tour at the Leaning tower of Pisa. The tour does not include tickets to go up. I wanted to know can we get tickets on the ship or purchase them at the tower to go in. Are the lines really long at that time. I'm sorry I have a ton of questions.

If the tour doesn't include the tickets, what are you paying for? I hope its not a lot of money because getting to Pisa and then to the tower is fairly easy by taxi/train. You can buy tickets at the tower. The length of the lines to climb it very by time of day and season but I would expect there to be a line. If I were you I would wait until I got there to buy tickets. You may take a look and want to back out of climbing it.

The tour we are taking goes to several places.

The cruise is Italy and the Greek Isles. I have never been to either place and would hate to venture out on my own with my daughter.

That's fine also. I wouldn't want you to do something you wouldn't be comfortable doing. I was just offering that as a suggestion.

We thought we were going to go up the tower and when we got there, there was not a long line to go up. BUT once we saw it and saw the people climbing.. well we decided not to go up. Unless the tour was going to get you a discount on the price (doubtful as its a national park type of admission) then I would just wait until you get to it.

The first time we did a Med cruise we paid a ton of money for cruise tours, and we had a great time. I went with friends and we decided ahead of time, we would each choose to do whatever we wanted in each port, if we chose the same thing, great, but if we chose differently, more to share at dinner. It worked perfectly. When we go again, we would do more on our own, but the first time the cruise tours worked out fine. Unfortunately, Pisa was under construction at the time, so we took the cheesy pictures everyone takes holding up the tower, and the Cathedral tour was wonderful.

Hi livia, i live just 40 minutes from Pisa i'm italian and my partner is Oregonian. We are cruiser enthusiast couple after we did our first cruise on caribean princess in Feb '09. Was amazing! Barbados, St lucia, Antigua Tortola and St thomas. As we live so close to Livorno and Pisa we know well the situation on Piazza dei Miracoli and leaning Tower. Long lines to climb and long lines to make ticket but if Pisa and Piazza dei miracoli is your only destinations you have enough and a lot of time. Believe me for someone that never see Pisa is something extremly terrific, and my BF can tell this as american. I would you suggest to contact me, right now i will go to check on the internet site the hour that they open the Ticket office and remember the church is not open till late in the morning for the tourist, of course there is prist praying and if u arrive in Sunday will be more late too. I will give you all the information soon.
