Mediterranean Destinations

It seems that most people go on a cruise to the Caribbean however we are going on a Mediterranean Cruise in Sept. 2005 for 12-nights.

I read through the Port reviews and they are VERY helpful...any other "must sees" or "dos" off the beaten path?

I am from UK and have travelled extensively in med, including a couple of cruises, if you post back your itinarary i would be happy to make some suggestions, we too prefer to be independant rather than take ships tours.

You can easily do all of them by train with no problem. However I would suggest a shore excursion in Marseilles. The ship docks in a commercial port quite a distance from town. You can do a private tour with a taxi, but I have found availability somewhat scarce. But, that has just been my experience.
