European Cruise..Wt. of Luggage

Hi,
I will be flying to Rome from JFK, NY.
From what I've seen on the internet, the weight of your carry on luggage is suppose to be 11 lbs. My luggage empty is about 7 pounds. Does the airlines charge extra if your carry on is over 11 pounds? Does anyone know if the airlines are strict about the 11 pounds limit?
I like to carry my meds, vitamins, 1-2 days extra clothes, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrush, just in case my luggage doesn't get to Rome with me.
I'd appreciate suggestions or information.

You probably should check with the airline you are flying for verification. This is the first time I have heard of a weight restriction for a carryone. 11lbs is not much. Most business trips my computer bag weighs more than that. The only restrictions I have heard on carry ons are that they must fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you.

The cruise ship does not impose a weight restriction (other than it has to fit in your cabin) But again you should check with the airline you are flying with.

What airline ?
Are you sure it is pounds & not KG.
Most European flights are 11-18 KG for carry on but watch the liquid restrictions.

I don't know which airline we will be flying yet. Online vacation center is the Travel agent we used to book the trip. They told me I have to wait until at least the end of November before I can find out which airline we're flying on and which hotel we will be staying at in Rome. Unfortunately for us we have to wait
I did look up AlItalia and Air France, flying from NY to FCO in Italy, and both of them had the weight in kg. When I checked the kg. that we were allowed it came to 11 pounds.
I did see the liquid can only be 3 oz. or less . Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

It lloks as if a weight conversion has gone astray here. Most carry-on is limited to 18-24 pounds depending on the airline. In June I did no see this being enforced. Also, you are limited to one carry-on in the European community (that includes purses.) This one they do appear to enforce (at least in Rome and Madrid.)

Call the airline and have them tell you the weight restrictions in pounds.
