Adriatic and Mediteranean Ports

My wife and I are taking an Oceania cruise in May, and want to do most ports of call on our own. We have some basic questions, though:
1. Can we walk (say, a max of a mile or so) from the following ports to town? If not, are taxis or shuttles readily available?
Dubrovnik, Kotor, Corfu, Portofino.
2. Same as question 1 for La Spezia, but here we want to get to La Spezia's train station from the port.
3. Is Corfu island worth touring by car, taxi, or bus? (We are not "beach people"; is the scenery great or are there other attractions outside of Corfu town?)
