Livorno port questions

I saw on a rail site that there are 2 train stations within the port. I will be taking the train from Milan to Livorno then to Nice post cruise. The train from Livorno to Genoa misconnects with the earlier train to Nice so I'm wondering how to find bus service to Genoa.

Does anyone know of the closest train station to the port and/or bus schedules?

There are two stations in Livorno but Livorno Centrale is the only one you need to worry about.

I'm confused. You post says that you are taking the train from Milan to Livorno to Nice. Why not direct to Nice from Milano?

I would not even consider a bus from Livorno to Genoa (unless you have a lot of spare time!)

Thanks for your reply. I will be taking the train from Milan to Livorno for a cruise, then to Nice but the train from Livorno to Genoa misses the next train by 8 minutes so will arrive late into Nice.

If a bus could get us to Genoa to catch the train, that would be a big help.

Without knowing specific dates and arrival/departure times for each city, it is really tough to comment further.

Catching a public transportation bus to catch a train is probably not going to happen.

Livorno to Genoa is 180km or about 2 hours drive. Livorno to Nice is 370km or about 4 hours drive. Rent-a-car and drive. Probably then only way to go.

Livorno to Nice is actually a wonderful drive. In fact, its worth a few days. You can take the route via Cingue Terre, than the interesting route past Genoa (must be a hundred tunnels..some very high over the sea) than take a stop at Monte Carlo or Eze before reaching Nice.
