Will be traveling with my mother on Solstice on Sept. 8, 2012. A little anxious about the trip. Any good advice?

1. Make sure you have your required proof of citizenship (passport preferred or required).

2. Book any shore excursions you are interested in early.

3. Don't over pack.

4. Be prepared to have the time of your life!

Very exciting itinerary for your European cruise aboard Solstice. You will love the Solstice. The ship is so restful and well laid out. Great food too.

I do hope you plan to arrive in Barcelona at least a day or two early so you can get rested up for the cruise as well as see a bit of Barcelona.

Brad's advice about packing is so true. Most new cruisers tend to over pack.

Will definitely enjoy the food!!!! Planning on arriving in Barcelona at least a couple of days before so we can get use to the time change. Would like to do a tour in Barcelona before going on the ship. Any suggestions?

Hi Maria. Look into the Hop-on Hop-off bus in Barcelona as something to do the first day. That will help give you the lay of the land while showing you the highlights.

Maria....Barcelona is a wonderfully clean and efficiently run city with many things to see and do. Taxis are quite inexpensive and tipping is minimal. English is spoken in many places in the city. Consider staying in a B&B such as Barcino 147 (On the Grand Via) which is the best section of Town (L'Eixample) and near to the center of all things (Placa de Catalunya)....The HoHo's are located there. Try Viator.com for Your tour planning in Barcelona and any other ports You are going to...they are worldwide, reasonable, reliable and well run....they are very cost effective!

Thanks LisaP. Read about the Hop-on Hop-off bus. Is it appropriate excursion with Mom? She is not as fast on her feet as she use to be, but able to walk ok without and help.
