Oasis level 6 balcony location

Hi, this is our first cruise and I'm just not sure which level to book.

I am about to book our balcony cabin and have two choices:

Level 6 D1 extended balcony (hump) on the port side or
Level 9 D5 not extended balcony but at the start of the extended balcony section which means it'll have a slightly larger balcony and is a little cheaper than the D1 on level 6.

If anyone knows or has stayed on level 6 I'm wondering if it is too low to the water line just above the lifeboats, should I book the level 9?

What about the balcony itself, do you think the extended 80 ft vs standard 50 ft is worth paying a little more?

Any advice would be great.

There are two humps on Oasis. The aft one has no rescue craft (that's what they call the lifeboats on Oasis) below it, but really, the boats are tucked in under an awning so it doesn't matter. Personally I would go with deck 6 because it is closer to the promenade, dining room, Boardwalk, which are just a set of stairs away. No waiting for elevators.

A word about balconies...while I normally get a cabin with one I really don't use it that much, and I venture to say this is true for most cruisers who may spend an hour a day on it on average. There is so much to do on this ship that I wouldn't want to waste too much time sitting on a balcony. Just my opinion.

Congratulation on you first cruise! Seeing as how it's your first cruise there's no way to compare different cabins. I've been on the Oasis and Allure and now they're my favorite ships. I was on deck 14 and on deck 8 and found deck 8 a better location. All the balcony cabins are the same size. If you get the extended balcony it will be a couple of feet deeper. If you were going to spend a lot of time on your balcony it would probably be worth spending a little more for it. What ever you decide your going to have a wonderful time, and like me, get hooked on cruising.

I have been on the oasis and stayed on level 6.....thats the same level as the boardwalk..perfect..I am going on the sister ship next month(allure)and i am staying on level 6 again....perfect location.
