hi! i just came back from my first cruise to the bahamas and it was completely awesome! well my husband and i were chatting with our waiter one night and he was talking about his family back at home. and then i began to wonder do the cruise staff and employees ever get a break to go back home because i looked at their sailing schedule and it seemed like they never stopped; they would be in europe nonstop in the fall and then back in the carribean in the spring. so do they ever get a break because i feel sort of sorry for them
Glad to hear that you enjoyed your cruise so much. Ready to book another??
The crew work on contracts that range from 6 months - 9 months working (usually depending on what they do & where they are from).
Most do 6 months on & 3 months off at home.
Personally I cannot imagine working 6 months straight without an entire day off.
I have never worked on a cruise ship but I have worked seven days a week for more than six month without a day off. It's not a lot of fun, that's why I said goodbye to radio a long time ago
yeah the crewmembers have contracts from 6 - 9 months at a time, then they go on vacation (go home lol). I am lucky because of my job, I don't do a great deal and so I have time to look around ports etc but the stewards, waiters and all the engine crew etc hardly have any time off, my hat goes off to them.
