Hello,
My wife and I are pretty big drinkers, we can sit down at a bar and spend 120 bucks on drinks right now. On the ship are the drinks outrageously expencive or are they reasonablely priced? thanks for your input.

Depends on what you mean by outragesously expensive. I would say that they are no more expensive than in a chain resturant. Beer is about $3.50 a bottle. You can do better if you buy the "tub" of beer where you get five or six bottels in a tub of ice... the per beer price if less that way. On CCL, a vodka martini runs about $7 after tip... The drink specials seem to run $5 I think...

How many drinks are you used to getting for your $120? And what type? Beer or cocktails?

Well I always get a 2 bloody mary's to start with and a corona light. then after those I drink corona the rest of the time with maybe a whiskey sour inbetween. My wife on the other hand likes all the expencive cocktails and she usally orders things that arn't on the menu so the bartender has to look it up to make it i don't know if they charge more for that. Anyway thats what we are used to doing but thats also about $40 in food added with that 120 because we don't go to bars we go to bar and grills so we eat and then get sauced alittle bit.

Thanks

Well, considering then that you are including $40 worth of food in that price and you are going to bar and grill type places, then you shouldn't suffer sticker shock. Figure that the $40 in food will now be free and you may enough be able to get more beverages for that same $.

Tell your wife when ordering the specialty drinks, to ask for a regular glass. Many of these drinks come in a sovonier (sorry about spelling) glass. The are about 10.00 once the tip is added in. They are a few bucks cheaper in a regular glass. Then you will not have to figure out how to pack a dozen RCCL glasses.

Has anyone heard of a cruise line that offers drinks included in the cruise price, like the all-inclusive land resorts? It seems that I once read of such a cruise in the Mediterranean, but I can't remember where.

Drinks are included in the price on some of the luxury lines, like Seabourn. These can be wonderful cruise experiences, but they are expensive - on the other hand, much is included that would be optional (or not even available) on the larger, mass-market ships.

Depending on what you like to drink, and since you like to drink alot, you might be smart to put vodka in a water bottle, or burbon in a mouthwash bottle. Beer is another story if that is your choice of drink. That way during the daytime when you are at the pool and what not you have your own stash. But I would not bring it to the bar or dinner tabel. Some class is necessary!!!

Seabourn, Silver and Regent Seven Seas

Personally, I really have enjoyed Seabourn as they really do spoil you! They give the term all-inclusive a new meaning. Regent is great too - right now, they provide two bottles of your choice in your stateroom and wine at dinner but beginning next year, they will be all-inclusive! Have not yet tried Silver but they are on my "to do" list.
