Last Off the Ship

I do not expect to receive alot of good feedback here, but this is my story. I cruise solo often, and as I have stated before, do all I can to avoid every crowded situation on a cruise. I like meeting people, but I have a stressful job, and love the relaxing part of cruising. Like many, my cabin steward is made aware that I plan to stay in my cabin, as late as I can, and is tipped for this privilege.

But this one time, I won't mention the sailing, I had a VERY good time saying ADIOS to my cruise family, and totally missed ALL of the wake up calls and announcements. Yes, I was last off the ship, and was very admonished by a large group that descended on me to remove me from the ship. This will not happen again, and I have sailed since, and was surprised I wasn't on any WATCH lists for disembarkating. I was whisked off the ship by a group who announced me as "entertainment" because the ship had cleared customs, and "I could cause a MAJOR problem for the cruise line."

Warning to all, do not let this happen to you !

I have stayed on the ship late before, I think it was Noon or shortly after. I was not in my cabin but did not have a problem.

I don't know if I was last but there was nobody in any lines when I left and it was real easy to find my luggage because it was the only one left.

Many of the people on this board seem to hurry to get on a ship, some as early as 11 am !! I am afraid that if I stay too long it may delay someone else's wonderful time. Usually a delay only means giving everyone else a hour or so to crowd on off....and I leisurely walk off around 9-10. But I never want to be THAT cruiser spoiling someone else's cruise.

In my story, somehow the cruise had cleared customs without me, and they just wanted me OFF !

If we are driving as most often. We do the same thing! We stay up late and want to sleep as long as we can. I tip the steward extra the last night and make a request to wake us last. It is usually 9AM or after before they even knock on the door. Then we get breakfast, come back and shower and are then walking off without a crowd!

I tried to settle my account once with cash that late in the morning and they said the account was already closed.

We were like Larry once though and had the easy luggage to find.

We're never in the group to be the last ones off, usually in the 9-9:30 group. I just wonder how anyone would know if you're not doing a b2b. I don't want to spoil anyones time by not being able to board early either, but I worry more about the staff having to turn everything around more than anything else. I'm still searching for that perfect hiding place so I'll never have to leave.

I have also been one of the first off. I have been able to get off, drop off my luggage at home and be at work by 8:30 AM.
