Best deal on transatlantic???

What is the best way to get a deal on a transatlantic cruise?? Do I wait till last minute or what? Is it best from the states to europe or the other way around??

There can be some great deals when booking within 30 days. However; you may not then get such a great deal on airfare booking so late. Also, if you are particular about type of cabin and location on the ship of your cabin, then you would want to book earlier. A transatlantic from Europe to the U.S. is suppose to be more relaxing for changing from time zones.

Thank you, Cruise Fanatic; I always thought the East to West crossing would be better because you're getting the worst of the flying over first; I had never thought of the time zone aspect.

I booked a transatlantic in April of 2008. Our original price was $1,600 per person for a balcony cabin on a 15 night cruise. About 45 days prior to the sailing date the price dropped to $749 for a guaranteed balcony. I was able to get that price even though my final payment was already paid. We went through the time change on the way over--next time we'll fly over and cruise back to the US.

I agree about the advantages of a westbound cruise. I love the idea of five 25-hour days instead of 23-hour days.
