Okay, since January appeared to be a lost cause we will now try the August 21, 2008 cruise of the Inspiration. Same itinerary - 4 days with 2 at-sea days and a stop in Cozumel. This is out of Tampa. This will allow for more planning by everyone and hopefully increase interest.

This is a good time to explain some things to all those interested. The "deal" Carnival is offering is in the form of amenity points. Which in this case will be used for a charity instead of using the points to give a free cocktail party or whatever. Everyone needs to understand what booking in a group means. It means one person organizes the group. Booking in groups keep you together for dinner, and they try to locate your cabins close by each other too. Some people might think they can book outside the group and save on a one day sale, or if they find a lower rate from an agent that is rebating. But if they do that, it ruins everything for the group. Carnival will not credit individual bookings to the amenity points for the group.

So what I am saying is that if you want to be a part of this group you will need to book this cruise with our designated agent for it - Cruise Fanatic (Jan). Once we arrive at a popular date (hopefully this one), we will post contact data for making bookings.

I also plan to offer some gifts for this - t-shirts, caps, etc. We'll figure those out later along with unique logo.

I just voted. Dave and Jan, thanks for setting up everything. Assuming school doesn't start here earlier than usual, we'll be there.

Dave- Voted yes, because that would be a better time for me. But not 100% sure since the school calendars are not out yet for that far in advance (wife being a teacher and all, that is important.) If it were a week earlier I could be sure that we could make it. So go ahead and plan for this unless it bombs as much as the first date did. But so far it looks promising. hmmmm I wonder if the wife would let me go solo.....

Thanks Dave for stepping up, and Jan for helping.

Well that would rule me out if is the final choice as is peak hurricane season. I live on the coast and have to be available about securing my home and pets if something pops up.

Hurricane Season

I knew when we first started this it would not work for everyone.

If I move before then I will go too, can handle a storm in the gulf and the cruise, but don't need the stress of being stuck there and another one barreling at my home too as a possibility

If is final choice, I would still like to donate my part, as was my bright idea of it being a charity cruise

Dave, I would like to also emphasize, that working a group is so different then working with individual reservations. There is a lot of extra work that goes into getting a group together to make sure things run smoothly. I agree, Jan should receive the commission for this as she is taking on the additional work and putting the extra time into setting it up. It would be very hard to set up a group and give it the time you need to give it and not get paid a dime for it. By using the amentities and adding an additional $20.00 per person above the cruise price, Cruise-chat will be able to make a very nice donation to the Charity of choice. I for one applaud Jan for volunteering to take this on. She should definetely be paid for her time and efforts!

I had to again vote no, would love to go, but I participate in Bridal shows during that period of time, plus its my hubby's and mine anniversary, so we usually set up at the bridal shows, then go away for a couple days ALONE to celebrate...gotta keep doing this for as long as possible, this year we will be celebrating 36 years.
