Has anyone ever used cruise411.com or similar sites for booking cruises? Do you get all the same paperwork? (ie, on my RCI cruise i got a spiral little book with all kinds of info)

any input is MUCH appreciated!

Actually it depends. Royal Caribbean particularly is asking agents if they want paper or E-Docs. If you book somewhere and that agent tells RCI E-Docs, then you won't get the spiral notebook.

Thanks Jan, I only have been on CCL. It would be sad for them not to send the docs. It is such an exciting day when you get your docs

Don't tell Penny this she will have dance withdrawal

I booked over the net with Vacations To Go for our March cruise with RCI and just booked with them again for a Mediterranean cruise in May. (Coincidentally the same ship - Voyager of the Seas)

We only got e-documents which I printed out, signed and they got us on the ship in about 5 minutes.

You don't get baggage tags so you can get them from the porters or what we did was print out the sample tag that comes in the e-document and put it inside a clear plastic luggage tag.

About when do you get the docs?
Is it close to the time you leave on the cruise?

I believe we got the docs about one month before our cruise.

You should also go on the RCCL site and fill in your profile there.
They have a record of your reservation and update it on occasion.

We get a run of the ship inside cabin which was assigned to us just before we got the docs and we found that out by checking our reservation on the website.

It may depend on the cruise line. We booked through vacations to go last year with Princess and the year before with Celebrity and received documents. Celebrity had a ringed booklet, Princess has bound booklets. But this year we booked again through vacations to go for NCL and got e-tickets.

I work in the indusrty, in fact for the company referred to in some of your posts. RCI send most major booking outlets eDocs only with a link for online registration. Registering and getting the "Set Sail Pass" that you print off your home computer makes the check-in a much faster process than the little notebook. Everything in the booklet is available online on thier site and via link from the eDocs. There is one of those bar code thingies at the bottom of the pass so they just scan you in and send you on the ship.

Happy sailing, Neil

Lately Royal Caribbean asks the TA whether the clients wants E-docs or paper docs. Princess has pretty much gone the way of E-docs. In fact eventually all cruiselines will be doing nothing but E-docs like the airlines do now. Be prepared eventually it will be like the airline ticketing, if you want paper tickets, you will pay a surcharge. I hate it, but thats the way things are heading.
