We are going to the Eastern Carribean end of January. If we do beach excursions, is it safe to leave camera equipment on the beach? If not any suggestions. St Thomas or St John
|
No -- definitely do not leave anything of value unattended. Either take turns going into the water while the other keeps an eye on the camera and other items, or use a waterproof camera.

Good tip, LisaP (as always);
I could never see taking GOOD cameras to the beach, especially since I'm not a pro. I stock up on Fuji disposable waterproofs; they take fantastic photos--especially underwater when snorkeling--are simplicity itself, and very reasonable. |
I have taken my digital camera to several beaches. We always rent a lounge chair to put our gear on. It keeps everything out of the sand. I keep my camera covered and someone is always watching our gear. Never had a problem. When in St. Thomas I either go to Coki beach or Trunk Bay in St. John's.
