My wife and I are discussing taking a trip to Tahiti late this year or early next year. Our first thoughts were to fly in, but now that we are hooked on cruising we were wonder if there are any large cruiselines that go there and what deals are available.
I did find a small line, but very expensive. Is this all I have to choose from.
Or should we just fly in and cruise somewhere else later?
Anyone experienced Tahiti, what would you suggest.
thx in advance.

Hello. Princess cruises has the "Tahitian Princess" ship, that cruises Tahiti. There is also the Paul Gaughain, my spelling might be wrong. Check out Princess website, and or a travel agent. Good luck. Lil' Lori
I did a Tahiti cruise on the Regal Princess from Hawaii & then flew home from Papeete.
Although it is a harsh fly home it is well worth every second.
My ultimate favortie island is Moorea - absolute paradise.
Princess now has 2 ships doing Tahiti cruises from Tahiti. 10 days.
They do also offer a variation on the one I did usually in May. There is also a dream cruise 29 days doing Hawaii, Tahiti & South Pacific.
Tahiti will be much more expensive no matter which way you look at it. But Tahiti has been on the top of my list for most favorite place visited after Africa. The South Pacific waters blow the Caribbean away. I have never seen such pristine beauty.
It is approximately a 7Hr flight from LAX. Bora Bora, Huahine, Moorea, and Raitea are very natural islands. Princess Cruises-Tahitian Princess, and Radisson's Paul Gaugin are the two that sale there regularly. Other cruise lines may do special cruises there only at certain time of the year. You can't compare the cost of a cruise to Tahiti, to the Caribbean. It's Apples and Oranges. It's a lifetime experience you will never forget.
Thx for the info. I did see Princess' Tahiti Princess. I will definitely check out the prices. I lived in Hawaii for three years and the only island I ever went to was Wake Island. I loved it. and it cannot compare to Tahiti from the pictures I have seen.
thx again for the info.
Steve

Mercedesno,
That is at the top of my "must-do" cruise list also. I am hoping to take one in the near future. So, let us know what you finally choose and then I can use you as a resource. Happy planning -
Nancy
We cruised on the Tahitian Princess (10 days) in 2002 and have been talking about it ever since. We flew to Papeete and boarded the ship. The flights were long and misrable but totally worth it! Of the four cruises we have taken, this was hands down the BEST! The ship rocked quite a bit headed over to the Cook islands (Raratonga) and several people at our dinner table including the assistant waiter got sick. I was told by our room steward that the trip over to Raratonga was always rough. If you get seasick easily, you might want to think twice.
