Hey all. Apparently the cruise moguls do read this site. I was contacted in late December by a major cruise line to participate in an internal documentary on cruise ship abuses and security issues. After several weeks of discussions, I have agreed to a 12 month employment contract which includes some nice travel and perks. Also, more work than I really wanted but the pay is outstanding and it will give this lazy scuba/ski bum a new challenge.

I start my tour in five weeks.

Thank you for the well wishes. As many of you well know, cruising is not exactly my style of traveling. Yes, my wife and I will be on multiple ships over the next year - estimate 9 different vessels with over 130 days away from home (including on-site work out-of-state). The dogs will stay with relatives (we will miss them)

Interestingly, they found me on this site. I did not apply. I actually thought the "cruise mafia" had gotten my number and was gonna have me fixed by Vinnie. Maybe they were angry with some of my posts or something? Man I was getting nervous. he he Strange things happen.

Wonder if they approached Dave for a position yet? Also, Sonny should be Goodwill Ambassador for RCCL with Penny and f-mattox being the same for Princess! I'd settle for either playing piano or being the Captain on Carnival Holiday!

I think they should use Sonny in the RCI commercials. The same for Penny and f-mattox with Princess. The "real person" angle always makes the biggest impression on me.

I've not been approached yet, but considering I plan to retire from TVA no later than two years from now, I will certainly consider any proposals the cruise lines have for me at that time. Maybe I could conduct a "cruise clinic for newbies" aboard Carnival ships - where I hold talks and practical demonstrations for new cruisers so they learn the ropes. "Okay, now watch closely as I order a bucket of beer." "Today's seminar topic: Don't fear the escargot".
