First Time Cruiser Seeks Advice

I agree with Cruise Fanatic. A travel agent will know the right questions to ask you to help find a cruise that suits you best. What's right for me might not necessarily be right for you. I also suggest seeing a TA in person rather than calling a 1-800 number for a company that sells cruises. No matter what cruise line you choose, no matter what itinerary you choose, there are, from my perspective, two MUST DOs.

First, be on deck, or outside on your balcony as the ship begins to pull away from the dock on the first day. For me, it's almost nirvana.

Second, whether you are a late night party animal or early to bed geezer, be sure to get up just before sunrise the first or second morning, and watch the sunrise from the deck or your balcony, with a nice cup of coffee (or tea, or Ramos Fizz), and your honey. The moment is forever etched in your mind as a highlight; if it isn't a special moment, then you don't need to get up early again...but do it once, early in the cruise, so you can keep doing it if you like it.

I would agree with seeking out a cruise specialist/ travel agent but I'm going to suggest Royal Caribbean for your age and the abundance of activities from which to choose.

It all really boils down to how much money you want to spend and when you want to go. It will also depend on what mood you want to create too! There are great specials out there right now for balcony cabins on all cruise lines, with each having strong points. Go for it!

For some people money is not the deciding factor. It is more about what they want to accomplish or see or do. If you have gone as far as being ready to book a cruise, I would think money is no longer the issue.
