Booking question

Does anyone know if I book a cruise, say, for 2008, for myself, but if i don't know WHO will be going with me, if I can go back later and add a person to my reservation? I have only been on one cruise so far, and I have a cruise booked next summer with my 16 yo dd, and I have a singles cruise booked for September. I would like to go ahead and book something for 2008, but i don't know who will be going with me. Thanks for any help you can offer!

Yes you can book the cabin for 2 people, with one unnamed. They will need the name when the full payment is due, typically 60 days before cruise date. To guarantee the rate, you will have to give a deposit also for the unnamed person. If you don't want to, whatever the rate is when you add the name will prevail for that person. Carnival deposits are typically $200 per person. We've done this several times and had no problems.

I am booked on the Fall Foliage cruise out of New York, leaving Sept. 29th. I am so excited but also a little nervous! I am 42, 43 by next sept., and i'm afraid everyone will be in their 20's, lol! I am divorced almost 1 year after 19 years of marriage, so this is really something new for me! I have only flown 1 time in the last 20 years, so just the flight to new york will be an adventure, or hopefully it will be a very boring flight, lol! I chose not to have a roommate, so i am paying big bucks to have my own balcony room! I am a night owl, and you just never know who you will get roomed with. I might go back to the cabin and see the handkerchief tied to the handle, lol! Isn't that what they do in college to signal to the roomie that they are "busy" in the room? Thanks for the info about booking a not known traveler! It will either be my daughter or son, i just have no idea this far ahead of time. Thanks again!

Oh, here is the itinerary:
day 1 Leave New York
day 2 Boston
day 3 Portland, ME
day 4 Saint John, NB, Canada
day 5 fun day at sea
day 6 Halifax, NS, Canada
day 7 fun day
day 8 back to New York

It will be so pretty! I haven't been very many places in this country, but i did go to boston a couple of summers ago with my youngest dd. I may spend a few days in new york before or after the cruise. It won't be fun traveling alone, but i am a very careful person! Now i just need to figure out where to stay in new york, although i think they may have a prearranged hotel for people in the singles group. I am just looking to have fun and meet some friends. That is the group that I have sailed with 4 times and I promise you will have a blast! I went on my first one at age 41. Majority will be 30-50 so don't give age another thought. Most of their cruisers are "repeat offenders" which speaks volumes for the process. You will meet many fine people that you will be friends with the rest of your life. Its not at all about "hooking up" although that can happen too, but not because of pressure from anyone. I bet you book another one when you get back! Before adding another person, check and see what the single supplement cost would be. I always booked solo and paid the difference. Some cruises will be cheaper than others.
