What to do with ID while snorkling

I would like to snorkle on my trip. What do I do with my ID while I am in the water. I have this terrible fear of someone stealing it if I leave it on the boat, or worse..it falling to the bottom of the ocean if I put it in a water wallet.

Not to worry!
The tour operator will provide a safe place to keep your wallet if you don't have a friend on the boat to leave it with, which is usually what I do. Get a cheap nylon wallet; all you need to take is your cruise card and a few dollars for tips and drinks (if not inicluded in the tour price).
One more tip: buy a couple of disposable underwater cameras before you go. They take GREAT pictures and are outrageously expensive on the dive boats.

We have a waterproof pouch that we wear around out necks. Since I use a wet suit (I get cold if it's below 90), I always have it zipped inside. My husband usually wraps the strap around his neck and under his arm, so the only way it would drop to the bottom would be if someone cut it off of him. The crews on the dive boats watch out for you as well. I've left my camera, watch, etc., on board and never had a problem.

Since the question was about ID and not cash and valuables..I will chime in here.

My advice is to always keep it with you. Use whatever method available. If some people, and I respect their ideas, feel comfortable leaving their valuables on the beach or with a tour operator is all good.

But I am keeping my ID with me.
