We have been on one RCCL cruise (the Voyager)to western caribbean- 7 days LOVED IT. We went the last week in May when kids were still in school. We have a fall cruise booked to Canada/New England also on RCCL- 9 day. BUT our next trip we're going to take the advice we've gotten on line here and try a Princess ship for the Panama Canal trip - 15 day. My advice...a balcony without an obscurred view is worth the money. Compare each cruise not so much by the number of days the cruise is, but the number of days at sea vs. in ports. We don't want half our trip to be on the ship.
Also, I think next time we're going through a travel agent. I think booking directly...with promises of "they're suppose to be adding a government discount in October, there will be resident discounts, you can get money off through the crown and anchor society...."Never paid off.

Hi steveo60, and welcome to cruise-chat.

As you've discovered, the choice of cruises can be overwhelming. I strongly suggest that you speak with a travel agent who specializes in cruises in order to narrow down your choices. The TA will know the questions to ask you to find the ships and itineraries that best suit your wants and needs. If you don't already have a travel agent, you can find one here: http://www.cruising.org/index2.cfm -- enter your Zip code on the lower right.

Once those choices are narrowed down, we can help you narrow them further.
Happy cruising!
