We just returned on HAL/Eurodam (See my discussion under HAL- Eurodam-Never Again)
Anyway, I just wanted to post about this As you wish dining....for anyone else that had questions on this like I did...
The afternoon we arrived we called and made a reservation for 5:30. We had a table for our party of 4 --at a window. The waiter said we could call and reserve this table(#125) every night for whatever time-- so that's what we did....We had to book for 5:15 in order to make it to the 7:00 pm show. (Which out of the whole week with HAL...the shows were the best experience of this whole cruise.) So, if you arrive and see a table you like, get the number and then just reserve it from then on...

Did they rotate the wait staff? On NCL they rotate the wait staff, so you can sit at the same table every night, but have different servers. Princess doesn't. You sit at a different table every night, unless you request a specific one, but the wait staff remains with the table.

Sort of defeats the purpose of open dining if you sit at the same time/table each night.
Unless this was the only option and you could not get space in traditional dining.
We much prefer to eat when we are hungry & do not mind sharing a table with others
we may ask to be in the same section as a certain waiter

We liked our table for four and we were next to the window and preferred eating early and catching the 7pm show....so every night we called and reserved that table and we had the same gentleman serving us. One night do to a late port we did not reserve a table for that evening and we were just sat when we arrived...so the option is open but what I liked is the fact that if you didn't like the table you got the first night you could have walked around and picked a table number you liked and from then on reserved that table. If we did not arrive by 5:15 it would not have mattered about the window seat because it was dark by 5:30.

Thank you for the report, cousins. This is good to know for those of us who prefer traditional dining but are unable to clear the wait list.
Happy cruising!
