I'm taking a cruise on Holland America and am disabled. Do they offer scooters to rent? Any travel tips you may know to help me?

Thanks

Hello BMW and welcome to Cruise Chat.

I know they have wheelchairs available, but I am not certain on scooters (although I would think they would). You should contact your travel agent and have them find out the details for you. I am going to make a link of you post in the Disabled Travel Forum section too as there may be readers in that section that can answer your question too.

Hello BMW, welcome to Cruise-Chat!

On the ships I've been on I've seen people using electric scooter that were rented for the week. You'll probably have to rent one from a medical supply company. Click HERE for information from Holland America.

Hi BMW, Welcome to Cruise-Chat!

They don't rent them on board. In the Holland America link Sonny provided it mentions Care Vacations/Cruise Ship Assist as the only vendor allowed to deliver oxygen. This is the same company that I always recommend for Scooter rentals. They specialize in working with the cruise lines. Here is a link.

On my last cruise there were several people driving their "Little Rascals" on the ship...They had rented them from a private vendor that delivered them to the ship....Your TA should be able to help plus I'm sure this Site will have someone with all the right information for you....The people using them on the ship had NO problems...they were all enjoying themselves....So check with your TA, or watch for the information on this site..and of course Have a Smashing Good Cruise...

Another thing is to get a map of accessible routes for the scooter on the ship. It makes it a lot easier to get around barriers.
