Are there any cruises in the gulf? I hope everyone was diverted early enough to be okay. I'm not quite sure where to go for ship news like that.

Lady Vidora,

there are several ships in the Gulf of Mexico. However, there have been quite a few itinerary alterations, and about the only affects the hurricane will have on cruising will be the delayed or early departure and arrival of some ships and the change of a number of port calls (and even changes to embarkation and disembarkation ports).

The cruise industry is well-prepared.
Best regards,

Raoul Fiebig

here is a good one but you may have to register- try it anyway. I am still in the industry as an Admiralty attorney, although I don't do much any more, and that is how I registered last year. They asked a lot of questions but for all I know you can be a complete landlubber and still get on here. Try it! Great site-

My husband says he saw that the USS Alabama was still in the gulf as of yesterday. Does anyone know why it wasn't moved a couple of days ago.

Lady Vidora
They mentioned on the weather channel last night that they were using the USS Alabama for a refuge site for families(People who worked there etc.) and it was totally safe and could withstand the wind and waters. They said that in the last big hurricane she barely moved.
